To prevent the Executive Branch from warrantless wiretapping 1Be it enacted by the Members of the YLI Congress 2of the United States of America in Congress assembled, 3SECTION 1. RESPECT CIVIL LIBERTIES ACT.
4This Act may be cited as the “Respect Civil Liberties Act of 2008.” 5SECTION 2. PURPOSES
6(1) To ban warrantless wiretapping of the Executive Branch
7(2) To require warrants to wiretap suspected terrorists with concrete evidence
8(3) To not allow immunity of telecommunications for taking part in warrant less
wiretapping after September 11th, 2001 9SECTION 3. ELIGIBILITY.
10(1) All citizens of the United States
11(2) The Executive Branch and other agencies under this branch
12(3) All phone companies that gave the Executive Branch private information in
order to wiretap with out a warrant after September 11th, 2001 15SECTION 4. TERMS AND BENEFITS OF SERVICE.
16(1) The Executive Branch will be required to obtain a court-ordered warrant from
the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act in order to wiretap suspected terrorists
with concrete evidence.
(2) If the Executive Branch wiretaps without a warrant from FISA, then the
evidence will not be used in an investigation.
17(3) Phone companies will not be protected by the government from lawsuits for
having taken part in warrantless wiretapping with the federal government after September 11th, 2001.
